Well, as I’ve begun salting the barren plains of the web with the occasional link to bitterquill.com, some of you new arrivals may be thinking “What the hell is this?” and “If it’s not finished, why is he linking to it?”
As to the first question, this is The Bitter Quill, hopefully soon to be a vibrant, active blog about writers, writing and literature.
As to the second, because I needed a link to put in my Blogger profile, and I didn’t want to put my personal blog.
I’m hoping that The Bitter Quill will be up and running with a warm, sticky gush of content by January 15th, 2006. Until then, you’ll probably get nothing but administrivia and test posts — but if you want to read those, by all means, stick around!

Salting the plains… From this I gather that you’ve left pointers to this blog here and there with the thought that someone might follow the trail of …salt crumbs… back to this blog. Did you mean that you’ve seeded the plains? Isn’t salting what people did in Biblical times when they wanted to make sure that nothing would ever grow? You need to beat your keyboard into a ploughshare and sow the mustard seeds of blogdom on the path of internet righteousness.
You know, it’s something of a miracle that Biblical times didn’t lead to vast deserts of salt punctuated by oases overrun with noxious mustard plants.
Good luck on the new blog.
